Crummock delivers security solutions which include the design, fabrication and installation of certified bullet-proof doors and windows to create a bullet-proof citadel or safe area within the living quarters of offshore oil and gas facilities. This enables the crew to remain safe whilst awaiting rescue by the appropriate rescue services. The doors are certified A60, Lloyds, DNV and MED and bullet-proof to UL752.
Following a requirements analysis and site survey, the design of the safe area is undertaken in the UK. The doors and windows are also designed and fabricated in the UK. Crummock's teams of UK trained tradesmen undertake the offshore installation. These are multi-skilled tradespeople and so the need for multiple visits and accommodation requirements is minimised.
In addition to the solutions outlined above, Crummock can design, supply and install detection systems, security lighting and CCTV cameras, combined with access control, to increase detection and prevent unauthorised access.
Unauthorised attempts to board vessels and offshore facilities is a recognised major threat. In 2012 there were approximately 300 such events reported worldwide and 65% involved the use of guns or other weapons. The threat is not just restricted to moving vessels or countries that regularly feature in the news.
Stationary oil and gas facilities offer rich pickings for crew valuables and computer equipment. The impact of such actions can not only have devastating effects on the crew, but also economic impact on oil and gas prices and country economies.
